Overview
Actually is an iOS app from CosmicQuest Studios LLC that helps check factual claims from screenshots, shared text, or manual entry. It uses source search and AI-assisted summarization to return a supported, contradicted, or uncertain result with source links when available.
Information Actually processes
When you trigger a check, Actually may process text from a screenshot, shared text, or manual entry. Screenshot text extraction is designed to happen on device. For v1, the backend receives claim text and source context, not the screenshot image, image file, or base64 image data.
Actually may also process technical request information needed to operate the service, protect against abuse, apply rate limits, debug errors, and maintain reliability.
How information is used
Claim text is used to identify the factual claim, search for relevant sources, and generate a concise AI-assisted result. The result may include a summary, source links, confidence level, and a supported, contradicted, or uncertain label.
Actually does not require a CosmicQuest account for v1 checks and does not ask for your name, email address, Apple ID, contacts, or stored claim history to verify a claim.
Service providers
Actually uses service providers to operate the app backend and verification workflow. Current providers may include Vercel for hosting, Upstash for rate limiting and duplicate request protection, Tavily or another search provider for source search, OpenAI for claim extraction and verdict generation, Firebase for admin authentication, and Apple for App Store distribution, purchases, subscriptions, diagnostics, and server notifications.
Claim text may be sent to search and AI providers only to perform the check you requested. We do not sell claim text or use it for cross-app or cross-site tracking.
Purchases and Apple services
If Actually offers subscriptions or in-app purchases, Apple processes the transaction through the App Store. Apple may process purchase, subscription, diagnostics, analytics, and account information under Apple's own terms and privacy practices.
Retention and deletion
Actually does not store screenshots or a personal claim history for v1. Server logs are used for security, debugging, abuse prevention, and operations and are configured to avoid storing full claim text in production. Rate limit and duplicate request records are temporary operational records.
Apple subscription notification metadata may be retained as needed to operate purchases, prevent abuse, and comply with legal, accounting, and business obligations. Support correspondence is retained as needed to respond to requests and maintain reasonable business records.
Your choices
You can choose not to submit a claim for checking. You can also contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of personal information associated with support correspondence or other records we control. Some requests may be limited by legal, security, or operational requirements.
Children's privacy
Actually is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information to us, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Actually's features, providers, or data practices change. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised last updated date.
