Privacy Policy
Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how CosmicQuest Studios LLC handles information for our websites, apps, and related services. If a specific product provides its own privacy notice, that notice applies to that product.
Information we collect
This website does not currently include user accounts, contact forms, payments, advertising, or analytics. If you contact us by email, we receive the information you choose to provide, such as your email address, product name, device or app details, and message.
Apps and services may collect information needed to provide their features, operate safely, process purchases, diagnose problems, or respond to support requests. Any product-specific data practices will be described in the product listing, in-app disclosure, or an updated privacy notice when applicable.
Actually app privacy
Actually is designed so screenshots stay on your device. The app may use on-device OCR or text extraction to identify text from a screenshot, shared text, or manual entry. The backend receives claim text only. It does not accept, upload, store, or process screenshots, image files, or base64 image data.
When you ask Actually to check a claim, the app sends the claim text, source context such as screenshot, shared text, manual, or unknown, and technical request information needed to operate the service. The backend uses this information to extract the core factual claim, search for sources, and generate a verdict.
Actually does not require a CosmicQuest account for v1 and does not ask for your name, email address, Apple ID, or contact list to verify a claim. Apple may process App Store purchase, subscription, diagnostics, and analytics information under Apple's own terms and privacy practices.
Actually providers
Actually uses service providers to operate the website and app backend. Current backend providers may include Vercel for hosting, Upstash for rate limiting and duplicate request protection, Tavily or another search provider for source search, OpenAI for claim extraction and verdict generation, Firebase for admin authentication, and Apple for App Store distribution, purchases, and server notifications.
Claim text may be sent to search and AI providers only to perform the verification you requested. We do not sell claim text or use it for cross-app or cross-site tracking.
How information is used
We use information to provide and improve our products, respond to support requests, troubleshoot issues, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, and keep reasonable business records.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use personal information for cross-app or cross-site tracking unless a product-specific notice clearly explains that practice and any required consent is obtained.
Sharing and third-party services
We may share limited information with service providers that help operate our websites, apps, and business, such as hosting, app distribution, payment processing, diagnostics, crash reporting, email, and customer support providers. These providers are expected to use information only to provide their services to us.
Products distributed through the Apple App Store may also involve Apple services for distribution, purchases, App Analytics, diagnostics, or platform features. We are responsible for describing our own app data practices and the practices of third-party code we include in our apps.
Data retention and deletion
We keep information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy, including support, product operation, security, legal compliance, and business records. You may request deletion of support correspondence or other personal information by contacting us.
For Actually, we do not store screenshots or a personal claim history for v1. Server logs are used for security, debugging, abuse prevention, and operations and are configured to avoid storing full claim text in production. Rate limit and duplicate request records are temporary operational records. Apple subscription notification metadata may be retained as needed to operate purchases, prevent abuse, and comply with legal or accounting obligations.
Your privacy choices
You may contact us to ask what personal information we have about you, request correction or deletion, or ask privacy questions. Some requests may be limited by legal, security, or operational requirements.
Children's privacy
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through this website. If a product is intended for children or may collect information from children, we will provide the required disclosures and protections for that product. If you believe a child provided personal information to us, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Policy updates
We may update this policy as our products or practices change. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised last updated date.
